Today, I went to Overpeck Park again to help the Audubon society put up Tree Swallow nest boxes. We didn't see any swallows, but there were good numbers of red-wings and grackles, as well as about 10 Killdeer! I was also surprised and excited to find an Eastern Phoebe, another harbinger of spring, in my backyard! I hadn't had good looks at one before, and I never expected one to visit! Anyway, he stayed for only about half a minute, wagging his tail, and then flew off. I think he may have been brought by the strong winds we had today, creating a early migrants "fallout".
Spring is definitely here!
Good birding everyone!
